Occhipinti SP68 IGT: Terre Siciliana Rosso (12%; Frappato + Nero d'Avola; LouisDressnerSlctns/NY) Arianno Occhipinti/Vitoria 2025: Very dark color; rather fragrant Frappeto/grapey/Pinotish some earthy/dusty/O slightly rustic quite attractive nose; fairly tart rather tannic/astringent/rustic perfumed/Frappato bit coarse rather grapey flavor w/ modest rough/astringent tannins; long grapey rough finish w/ grippy tannins; a fairly classic Sicilian red w/ more richness & grapiness than most; structured & needs aging. $34.00 (AV)

1. Tha Occhipinti wines are natural wines. When they first appeared in the US market, they were pretty natty & funky wines. But Arianno has figured out natural winemaking and I seldom find any such character in them anymore. She makes a variety of wines, buy I particularly like her Frappato for its perfume & fragrance. She also makes a Passito Nero d'Avola that I'd love to try.
