- 2019 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvèdre Old Vine Enz Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Lime Kiln Valley (8/18/2026)
I haven’t opened one of these in five years? I guess Enz is too precious now that the top producers who were making it no longer have access to the grapes. Anyway, this was as good as I was expecting it to be. There’s an inner depth, a sapidity, that reminds me more than a little of Evangelho. Dark fruit, earthy, herbal, and leathery notes all come through, woven into a perfect tapestry. There’s no gaps, no missed stitches, just a seamless whole. Not a lot of structure in the background, but more than sufficient acidity to keeps things in place. It’s definitely good to go now, but I think I’ll hold my last bottle a while longer.
