1985 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac
My recent experience with the '85 Lynch-Bages prompted me to open one of these. It very much resembles the Lynch-Bages in character and style: forward and complex aroma, exquisite flavors and perfect balance, no rough edges. But the Pichon Lanade is just, well, noticeably better on all fronts. More intense, more complex, more balanced. Perhaps that's why it's classified as a 2eme cru while Lynch-Bages is 5eme. I can't see this wine (the Pichon Lalande) getting any better, but I think it probably has another ten years in it at least. Curly double Larry.

Great note.
Pichon Lalande is probably my favorite non-1st Medoc.
Have always loved the '85, though now only have a couple of 375s.
