Steak dinner in L.A.:

NV Louis Roederer Champagne Collection 242 Champagne Blend
Citrus and minerals and modest bottle age. Delightful.

1999 Château Lynch-Bages Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend
From a passively stored magnum: pretty close to full tertiary development, though enjoyably so and very drinkable. Barely medium bodied with the light fruit and leathery tones appropriate to condition.

2016 Château de Vaudieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend
Red black and blue, the last even more significant because of the comparison with a '99 Lynch Bages also on the table. Evident youngish syrah component with blueberry, fig, earth, graphite, and spice. Nicely developed with a lot of runway ahead of it--the last CT note mentions 'prune' but there was none on our bottle.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I do love Roederer.
