Pheasant Ridge, 2002 Texas High Plains, Pinot Noir, 13.2% a.b.v.: Pheasant Ridge Winery is located in Lubbock, Texas. The winery is completely within the Texas High Plains AVA. I found this wine on a menu at a Love & War in Texas, a Texan restaurant chain.

At $26.50 a bottle, the wine definitely did not aspire to a good QPR, but other than that I was not disappointed.

Bright red in color, typical earthy, good funky Pinot Noir nose, light bodied, brightly acidic, a hint of cherry, finish was a bit short.

If it weren't for the price, I'd say this one was every bit as good a daily drop as anything from the west coast. In fact, it was a good bit more subtle and went well with my mesquite chicken and ribs. (These, by the way, tasted a bit like burning dry leaves smell.)
And now what?
