WTN: 1993 Clos de la Cure

I've been buying '93's second-hand, and all have exceeded expectation until now. Although in all fairness the wine seemed to be showing pretty well, I just didn't like it.

1993 Clos de la Cure, St. Emilion:
Good/appropriate color for it's age. Nose of Bactine (an antiseptic spray for cuts every household had when I was a child, and similar to the odor of old-fashioned bandaids--new bandaids don't seem to have this smell) and old cigar butts, in the mouth raspberry fruit with a mildly acrid black coffee finish. Well-balanced and interesting enough to finish a second glass, but it never became compelling, never threw out that hook that nearly all Bordeauxs, no matter which commune they come from, usually do.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
