WTN: F***ing Merlot

by Håvard Flatland » Sun Apr 29, 2007 10:25 am

My first experiance with Pomerol. I liked it.

Château Chantalouette 2000, Pomerol, Bordeaux, France, 255NOK/$42
Earthy red colour.
On the nose there is first nougat followed by peppers, nice oak and a hint of iron. A good fruity wine. Plums and oak aromas in the aftertaste. The tannins are fine, but not as mellow as I expected from a merlot. With some air the nougat notes subsided and more fruit came through.

This is the second wine of Château de Sales. 80% merlot, 20% cabernet franc. 18 months in oak.

Sounds like a pretty decent f***ing merlot. Thanks for the note!
