Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur 2001, Patrice Rion

Light burgundy colour with pink rim.
On the nose there is earthy beetrooty sweet smell, strawberry and some oak. Not so interesting in the mouth as on the nose. Rasberries and strawberries. Good acidity and firm tannins. Could use some more time in the cellar.

Côte de Nuits-Villages 2005, Patrice Rion

Oh la la, good stuff!

Relatively dark pinot colour with some purple.
Very atractive aroma of sweet spicy earth on opening. With some air, there is more focus on clean rasberries.
Sweet-sour fruity wine with good body and persistent punch trough the whole palate. Elegant mature tannins. Very promising for 2005s.

Memo to self: Back up the truck!
