2000 Bouchard Père et Fils Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru (5/23/2007)
High-toned red and black fruit, touch of oak on the nose and palate. Bright acidity and crisp fruit. Drinking well now, but has life for 5-8 more years.

I like this mob, DMB, but didn't buy anything from 2000 after having to pay (a little) through the nose for their supposedly very nice 1999ers. Stuck to their Volnay (same label as you tried above) and the L'enfant du Jesus from Beaune. Haven't tried one yet. Earmarked the first bottle of each to be opened in 2009.

Thanks for the note.
Cheers,

David

I've had a few '99 Bouchards. I wish I had bought some.

I tasted this from a 375 a couple of weeks ago. It took about 90 minutes to get going but once it did it was very enjoyable. I think I read a note somewhere that described it as being a little candied, but I didn't notice that. I liked the 2002 version of this too, but haven't tried it since it first was released.

Jenise, if you are there, Gateway wines has this in half bottles for $22.

Best,
Marc
