With Betsy away, a variety of wines were opened over end of week:
2006 Cantalupo Il Mimo
Like the 2005, a bigger style of Il Mimo. Fresh raspberry fruit, a hint of tar, good length. Big enough to stand up to grilled salmon (too hot for PN!). Will get more. B+/A-
2004 Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett
A real Kabinett, bright apple and lime fruit with good length and minerality. B+
2005 Domaine des Grands Fers Fleurie
Sweet ripe red fruit, a little floral on the nose, but a tad short. OK Fleurie, but with Brun and Vissoux out there no reason to look for more of this. B-/B
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency
