Meredith Vineyards in VA

Does anyone know what happened to Archie Smith's Meredith Vineyards out past Middleburg, Virginia? I used to go there often BC (before children). At the time, I enjoyed their wines but I know something has happened as I haven't seen or heard hide-nor-hair of them.
I did a quick but unfruitful search prior to this post.

Just a headline, but a slightly different spelling: Virginia's Meredyth Vineyards Up For Sale; Owners Looking for Buyer Who Will Keep Pioneer Winery Open. The Washington Post, March 24, 1989

Keith, thanks for the information, and from Germany none-the-less. That headline tells the story, I think. I'll poke around some more, anyway.

Wow! 1989 was way before my wine time. It's probably a mall or a townhouse development by now.

Meredyth is no longer on the Virginia wine passport, so I have to assume it has gone by the wayside.

Thanks for checking the VA wine passport. IMHO, Archie Smith did for the VA wine industry what Mondavi did for CA.
