WTN: Louis Jadot Bourgogne Chardonnay 2003

Green apples and oak on the nose.

Crisp, tangy green apples, good clean edge, lighter than I recall previous bottles being, lightly oaked. Fresh, clean and refereshing.

Nothing to rave about (and I suspect this might have been a slightly off bottle) but still an okay bottle of wine.

Purchased at $19.95 (Canadian).

Why off bottle? Is it because it seems to have better acidity that what 2003s tend in my experience to have?

I suggested it might have been an off bottle since I recall previous bottles of the same wine from the same vintage being a bit richer and fuller.

However, having said that, this is could also be a case of simple bottle variation from a wine that is made in large quantities.

I tasted this wine last week and your discription is spot on my experience. Not bad, just not at all distinctive. The '04 has more substance in my opinion.

I do like Louis' Bourgogne Pinot Noir. Year in and year out it is a solid, food friendly offering.
