Wine lust...

I saw it, wanted it, but wife woulda killed me if I'd bought it: 1990 Chateau D'YQUEM - Sauternes $299.99.
First bottle of that chateau I have ever seen, and I think my eyes glazed over.

If that's the price for a 750ml it's actually pretty cheap.

Robert, not long ago I paid $80ish for 375's of the '99 vintage. And that's not chump change, but the wine's worth it at least once in your life and even a '99 this young will show you that. Some day you should splurge.

Read it again, Jenise, it's a 1990.

I tried the 90 two years ago -- stunning stuff. I made a note to try it again in five years. Let me know when you are opening one.

I did read it, Robert. My point was that '90 is a popular year and those wines are going to be ferociously expensive, but you can get a lot of that quality in a less popular year for quite a bit less money. I was steering you toward one of those years.

My apologies for the misreading of your post. I'd be delighted to be able to get a less expensive vintage of that wine, but first I have to find one!

On the going prices over here, I'd just go and buy it, Robert! (as long as it's a 750ml bottle). That's about half of what it's worth to buy in Australia. Which leads me to ask if it is, indeed, a full or half bottle, you're referring to? :?
Cheers,

David

It's definitely a full 750ml bottle! The store had at least 6 on the shelf.
