Greetings All,
I recently found a De La Force 20 year tawny at a reasonable price and thought I'd give it a try. After close inspection, I could see some sediment floating in the bottle. I am familiar with decanting vintage port, but in all my bottles I've never seen sediment in a tawny with indication of age. My first question, should I decant and proceed or return the bottle? The year of bottling is 2004. That brings me to my second question, can a tawny with indication of age suffer adverse effects from sitting in the bottle? In other words, would it be crazy to purchase a Graham’s 10 year bottled in 2001?
