Geyerhof Grüner Veltliner Hoher Rain 2006

More pear-aromatic, less peppery than the orginal Wachau white-peppered pear jam that I put on my Chaource cheese, but both, or all three, were lovely. This is classic GV, not just a simple quaffer but a grown up GV, at 12,5% is has enough weigth (not chaptalised) but not overdone as is the danger with 2006. Everything is in place, the fruit is sweet (pear, apple, melon) and the finish is mouthwatering and refreshing. The price - best of all - was so low that I cann't even recall it ;). Significantly below the 10€ mark...
It all was almost perfect to go with Ang Lee's master piece "Eat, Drink, Man, Woman". If only I could have the old master's food transferred from the screen to my plate, it would have been pure bliss!
