WTN: Not what I thought I was opening. Needed my rose-colored glasses.

Got around to trying my 2002 Christian Salmon Sancerre Cuvee Vielles Vignes but it turned out to be the Rose' version (small label on back says Rose' table wine). In the thick green bottle you can't tell the color of the wine and I thought this was going to be a Sauvignon Blanc.
An Alfio Moriconi Selection
Winemaker at Bue'-Cher, France
12.5% alcohol
Consumed with crab and shrimp cake.
Salmon or blush color with transparency. Has a little of the flavor of a Blanc de Noir Champagne without the bubbles. Unripe strawberries and watermelon and a bit of vanilla/toasty oak mid-palate. Unlike other Sancerre rose' wines I've had from Pascal or Francois Cotat. I don't enjoy it as much, but I find it somewhat interesting and provocative.

Did that too with some Reverdys. Thing is, I thought what I owned was the SB and I didn't know until it splashed into a guest's glass that it wasn't.
