I would classify this wine as a balanced international red; full bodied and lush. Very deep ruby red-almost inkish-purple, I could immediately tell there was a lot of cabernet sauvignon in the blend from the waft of cassis that hit me as I poured the wine into the glass. I am usually not a fan of cabernet in my sangiovese, but this wine has been cushioned and rounded out with merlot. It is nicely balanced and definitely not over oaked - praise baby Bacchus! Tannins are present but very much tamed. Deep black cherry, cassis, with some licorice on the finish. Quite enjoyable and a very good buy for $26!
