German 2003 wine sales

It is clear that retailers are unloading some of their 2003 German wines at bargain basement prices these days (dvw.com, klwines.com). I picked up some Dr. H. Thanisch Bernkasteler Graben Spätlese (was $21.99 now $8.99), some Dr. H. Thanisch Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese (was $21.99 now $9.99), and some 2004 Vereinigte Hospitien Scharzhofberger Kabinett (was $21.99 now $8.99) at the K&L sale, and a number of bottlings from the DeeVine Wines sale. Personally, I've enjoyed quite a number of the 2003 bottlings I've tried, and think they will slim down with a few more years in bottle. Anyone else with current thoughts on the present and future state of the 2003 German vintage wines? Jim

I think the top spatlese and auslese bottles have a real future down the mid-term road, but most of what is being dumped is not top bottlings.
