WTN: Good value Barossa Shiraz

by Randy Buckner » Fri Jul 13, 2007 1:49 pm

2005 Archetype Vineyards, Shiraz, Barossa, Australia, $15, 15,000 cases. Discounters have it for $12. Purple/red in color, the nose is somewhat reticent, giving off mixed berries and oak. The palate delivers more than the nose promises. It’s loaded with juicy dark berry fruit, backed by racy acidity. Good value; 87/90.

All the 2005 Barossa Shiraz tasted last summer in Australia at the "Cellar Doors" in barrel where very good. A good vintage.
