WTN: Chateau Ducla Bordeaux Superieur 2003

Yvon Mau & Fils.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and, strangely enough, Malbec. I know that Malbec was, at one time, a common blending grape in Bordeaux, but I had thought those days had long since passed.

Farily dark red in the glass.

Smoky, earthy nose.

Earthy, leather, fairly fleshy black cherry, tangy, black olive, dark chocolate, a not unpleasant bitter streak, a little woody toward the end.

A very long finish, with smoke and earth.

A very good wine that matched very well with BBQ-ed spare ribs.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian). An excellent value.

Sounds nice! I need to start trying the "cheap" Bordeaux if they offer this kind of traditional flavors.
