News: Mowing vineyards with sheep

by Paul B. » Thu Jul 19, 2007 3:50 pm

A most interesting story on how some wineries are training sheep to act as natural weed eaters, while leaving the valuable grape crop alone:

Researchers train sheep to weed vineyards, abstain from grapes

Personally I like this option - it keeps the use of fossil fuel down and may even be a source of useful fertilizer
