Château Beychevelle 2004 St-Julien 13%abv toomany€
This seems a rather nice wine: the nose started out very nutty and oaky, but a couple hours open and it had integrated nicely. The fruit is much darker toned than I remember the '01 to have been, but it does have attractive cassis and lead and smells very typical for the area. The palate is attractively juicy and structured. It is a very refreshing and food friendly wine.
This is a type of wine I enjoy. It seems true to its area, it begs me to take another sip, it is mouthcleansing, it is complimentary to food, it isn't tiring to drink and is refreshing.
Day one: spicy lamb meatballs - not a great match, but by no means a catastrophe.
Day two: filet of beef - a great match. So tasty and savoury a wine that none is left for today.
