Enjoyed a sample of a very nice 2003 Mount Veeder Appelation (Napa Valley) Cabernet Franc yesterday from Napa Redwoods Winery.
Dark, black-red in color. Lots of juicy acidity. Blackberry and cassis fruit, but also some delicious herbaciousness without being "green pepper" in character. Also some nice black pepper on the finish.
From Nils Venge's Saddleback Cellars 2006 Viognier from Clarksbug in the Sacramento Delta. Amazing burst of peach and apricot and banana. Nice herbal note on the finish. A little warm, but the fruit is so beautiful-and only $20.
