Subway

by Larry Greenly » Thu Nov 06, 2025 9:20 pm

Since the guy who threw a sub at an ICE agent was found not guilty, Subway should run with publicity and rename that sandwich to I.C.E. sub. Any better names? Let's hear 'em.

I'm glad the ridiculous prosecution failed. Dissent is great, although like some I can't call Dunn a hero. He did purchase a Subway sandwich after all.

Dunn might not qualify as a hero, but what he threw does

My one brother tells me that my other brother hasn't ever eaten a sub/hero/hoagie in his life. Makes sense. They have veggies, and he eats only corn and French fries as veggies (quite literally).

PTSD because a sandwich was thrown at him. I'm certain he has met up with much more danger in his line of work. Any judge who would allow that in his court is nuts.

Were I a judge and this case showed up in my court, I'd issue a directed verdict for the defendant and order the plaintiff to pay the defendant's legal costs.

In court he claimed he could feel the impact through his bullet-proof vest. [AUDIENCE GUFFAWS LOUDLY]

Maybe he should submit to a comparison vest test: sub vs .45 bullet.

AI says:
Yes, you would likely feel the impact of a thrown sandwich through a bulletproof vest, as confirmed by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent who experienced it. The impact can be strong enough to feel through the vest, and it may "explode" on the surface, causing a "hard impact" that you could feel.
Impact through the vest: You would feel the sandwich strike the vest, similar to how an agent described the impact of a thrown sandwich as being felt through his protective gear.
"Explosion" effect: The sandwich itself could break apart upon hitting the vest, leading to a feeling of a strong, jarring impact.

Yes, the agent testified the sandwich "exploded" against him. Which is why the defense used the photograph of the still wrapped sandwich in their cross-examination,

But it's not a rock or a bowling ball. It's just a sandwich--there's only so much impact it can have. This dude's in the wrong profession.

This all sounds like a good project for the old "Mythbusters" show.

Yeah. And by nature a sandwich would be self cushioning.

I would hope that this clown's lawyer advised him in the strongest possible terms not to bring this tort action.

Presumably if the guy had squirted a mustard bottle instead of tossing a sandwich he would have been charged with chemical warfare?
