Romance at Wal-Mart.

by Bob Ross » Tue May 16, 2006 11:37 am

The Wall Street Journal reports on an interesting marketing technique:

Although Wal-Mart is operating in the red in Germany, the company has worked on lowering costs and ingratiating itself with suppliers and shoppers. For instance, it sponsored events like "Singles Shopping Nights," at which customers could look for love along with their groceries and were treated to sparkling wine and oysters at the store. The evenings were so popular that Wal-Mart still hosts them occasionally and has organized them at its stores in other countries.

Sounds like fun. Regards, Bob

Aren't you being brave...posting positive stuff about Wal-Mart? Or is this positive?

All I'll say is that the title of this thread sounds like some kind of song by the Trailer Park Troubadours....

How about Romance at the Postbox? I saw a flyer posted on a mailbox near my house that was advertising a 30 year old male looking for a <= 30 year old female. He gave some of the usual particular - books, beaches, sunsets, blah blah blah - but I'm thinking this is a pretty long shot.

A direct marketing campaign of oneself? Perhaps an ad from this person will show up on a card that comes in the mail with a whole bunch of other ones in a cellophane wrapper?

As long as it doesn't come with a scratch 'n' sniff strip, more power to him.
