America's Culinary Cup

by Jenise » Tue Mar 10, 2026 6:36 pm

Did anyone else watch Padma's new show the other night?

I wasn't impressed. It's a cutthroat game wherein food is the weaponry but whoever wins will be luckiest or meanest but not the best. In fact, the guy who looked to me to have made THE dish of the night (a winner of the Bocuse D'Or, who was immediately targetted) went home.

I'm kind of disgusted by the million dollar prize, too.

I don't watch any of those types of shows, so many are already staged, and some are stupid. I miss many of the shows The Food Network had years ago. The only ones I watch now are The Kitchen, where the team actually preps, cooks, and explains the recipes, fun, great recipes, hacks, and a fun team. I also pick up oldies of Ina, Giada, and Pioneer Woman. Some are not cooking for me, but the life they lead, seeing the gardens, watching the kids, horses, ranching, and more.

Just watched another episode. Also saw the second episode of Top Chef. Liked Top Chef better. First of all there are more judges, therefore more inputs and potentially fairness. Also, just like the overall game play better: no sobotage, just good sportsmanship. Oh, and I'm really tired of Padma's boobs.

I had to chuckle at your last statement. I used to feel that way about watching G. DeLarentis. She finally stopped showing off when her daughter was old enough to notice. Good thing...

I saw a commercial for ACC last night while watching 60 Minutes which claims it is "America's #1 Culinary program!" Right, after only two episodes--and that's only true if your measure requires the word 'Culinary' in the name. Idiots.
