Recipes from Beyond!

by Bill Spohn » Sun Jun 14, 2026 12:10 pm

Came across an interesting book on cooking. To Die For: A Cookbook of Gravestone Recipes, by Rosie Grant
The author apparently had a 'thing' for wandering about cemeteries looking for head stones that had been engraved with recipes, an idea that never would have occurred to me. Give it a search on Amazon!

Another interesting thing I came across is that some vendors simply don't want to have anything to do with sales to Canada.- I looked at ABE books (which happens to be a mail order business up here in BC) and found that some American sellers wanted $100 to mail the book (usually a a price of around $25 for the book and $7 shipping) to a buyer in Canada - guess we ticked some Americans off some how!

That's very interesting! I have a thing for cemeteries and love visiting them when we're traveling. I don't ever remember seeing a headstone with a recipe on it, though.

Abe Books is now a subsidiary of Amazon.

I too have never seen a recipe on a gravestone. It's not a criteria I would think would lead to an especially good dinner.
I haven't used ABE in years but shipping has always been all over the place.
