The Bear, Season Five

Where I thought Seasons 3 and 4 went offtrack, Season 5 IMO nails everything that was exhilarating about Season One but adds in all the affection and intensity present in a great crew finally working together as a unit. I cried at the end of the service (the first eight episodes of nine are a single, monumental day in which everything that could go wrong did during a major rainstorm during which any moment power could go down). Tension on every possible level that is spectacularly written, performed and filmed. Wow. Anyone else seen it yet?

We watched eps 1-3 in a sitting. With the Hulu commercials thrown in, each episode runs about 26 min, an amuse bouche of a TV show. The tension of those episodes was almost too much for us.

Mark I started watching it Friday night, got thru the first five before having to put myself to bed, then straight out of bed Saturday morning I watched the rest. I was glued to it. I don't even know how you write, let alone imagine and then film, a story with so many characters and jagged edges; and yet it becomes one cohesive story. It's quite a thrill ride.

We got through eps 4-5 last night, an experience that I found easier than the first 3. It wasn't as unrelentingly grim as those first few episodes were. I'll be very interested to see where the story arc takes us, but they've got a whole lot of loose ends to tie off before it concludes.

Definitely a "me" problem, but that show, along with White Lotus, is too much cringe and tension for me to tolerate. Beautifully shot, I'm sure the performances are great, but just too much for me. Glad you are enjoying.
