Need advise cooking an Indian Chicken dish

I have never cooked Indian food but am becoming interested.

I am making a curried cauliflower dish along with chicken pieces that are marinating in yogurt, and various Indian spices. The chicken recipe calls for “grilling the chicken in the usual way” (?)
Since it is covered in yogurt and spices, should I wipe it off prior to putting on the grill or would it be better to leave the coating on and oven cook? The recipe says nothing about removing the yogurt but does say for best results to coat with melted butter prior to grilling……do I put melted butter over the top of the yogurt?

I think what you are actually seeking is "advice" not "advise." Sorry, it happens to be a usage that grates one me.

Well of course you are correct, a slip of the fingers who usually fly much too fast over the keyboard. And I am sure you meant to say, "on me", instead of "one me". :wink:

Any advice on my cooking technique for the chicken?

I've never cooked a chicken, but... the recipes I have on hand for Tandoori Chicken indicate that the marinade is left on when the melted ghee is spooned on and the chicken is cooked.

I can confirm that--the marinade cooks onto the meat.

I really don't want to get into what grates on "two me." but I'll give you a clue -it has something to do with my typing.

Remove the marinade and hit it with the ghee.

I roasted in the oven, did the brush with the melted butter over the yogurt/spices marinade. Chicken was moist, tender, full of flavor, and we will do it again. Loved it. Thanks for the suggestions.
