Sugar snap peas, cukes, or radishes.

Radishes and nice pilsner are one of lifes little secret pleasures. I wonder if the Germans drink rieslings with their fresh radishes too. I have to admit, I this is also a favorite but I cut it out because I thought no one but a crazy Kraut would like fresh radishes. I am wearing major egg on my face for not including peas, and all varieties are great. Fresh cukes are good, but maybe my Dad doesn't grow the right varieties. I am enjoying all the responses to this poll.

I love radishes!

My dad grew some new varieties this year, but he can't remember what they are called. :? I found them lovely and not at all hot, but the rest of my wimpy siblings thought they were too brutal to eat. If I lived closer, I'd have all the radishes I could handle!

The tomato was bound to win. Most people cannot resist the taste of a big, ripe, juicey tomato in August just off the vine.

But it's more than that with me. I eat tomatoes almost every day. It's my #1 basic food group. Even in winter, those lousy storebought tomatoes are better than no tomatoes at all. Of course, come August, I'm in heaven.

I voted for tomato because at least I can grow them fairly consistently and they make for great canning.

However, if I could grow them with more success, I think fresh garbanzos are so superior to the dried and canned versions that garbanzos would be my favorite.
