I was too cheap to buy the Rainers, so I've got a big bag of regular old cherries sitting next to me on my desk right now! But they're still pretty darn good, and were only $1.69/lb on sale.

Ain't summer grand?

I could live exclusively on fruits and vegetables from July through October.

The season here is already past peak, but there's still some good ones around. My kid has learned why being a cherry pig is not a good idea- and I'm still cleaning up the mess.

$1.29/lb for Bing, $1.49/lb for Rainier.

That's a pretty dramatic difference in timing, we too are almost completely done. The few cherries still available are hitting the overripe, quick to rot stage. And they're $3-5/lb. Still, a good season. I'm not mourning the cherries though, the heart of the blueberry and peach season is just hitting.

Rainier Cherries sell here for about $4.99 per pound, and while I love them, I just hate to throw away more weight (pits) than I eat. Wish I could one day be in Traverse City Michigan when the cherries there are in season. YUM!

Compared to the overall volume of fruit the pits in cherries are rather small. It's not like they are avocados or mangos.

Anyway, $5.99/lb here & worth every penny.

Yep. Sometimes you just gotta take a plunge and forget the price.

Rainier Cherry season is one of those times.

Not soon enough getting here, and too quickly gone.

You're shopping at the wrong places. I stopped at a roadside stand on my way home today and picked up a 4 pound bag for $6.

Now, where did I put that Kaopectate...?

I'm shopping in Connecticut. The fact that I can find Rainier Cherries is itself a small miracle.

Found them here in Phoenix, but I'm not buying them at 6.99 lb.
