It was good to cook outdoors on this mild evening, after yesterday's heavy rains. With filet mignon, we drank the 2001 Pichon Baron. Just after opening, it hooked me with its classic nose of cedar and black cherry. In the mouth was a smokiness that framed the fruit and left with a lingering finish. A thinness on the palate caught my attention, but didn't detract, and still a superb and classic Pauilliac.
