Dirty & Rowdy 2014 Yountville Semillon, Skin and Concrete Egg Fermented. This doesn't show as much skin-contact influence as I'd expected: light straw color, nice fresh aromatics. But as it warms up in the glass, I find that I like it less and less: there's a less-than-pleasant vegetality and a light burnt-spice note that comes out with time, and the balance goes a little haywire too, with a lot of weight shifting to the back end of the wine. Might have been the bottle, might have been my mood, but on the basis of one sample of each, I far prefer the "good ol' direct-to-press" version.
cheers, Patchen
